The alumni honored included, Suzy Kolber, class of 1982, ESPN Anchor and Producer; Josh Tower, class of 1988, Broadway Performer and TV Actor; Josh Singer, class of 1990, Academy Award Winning Screenplay Writer; and John Tartaglia, class of 1996, Emmy and Tony Nominated Actor, Puppeteer, Director and Television Show Creator, all in the category of Arts, Entertainment and Communications. Also honored in the category of Business and Law, Michael Stiles, Class of 1963, former US attorney, Trial Judge and Philadelphia Prosecutor and current COO and Vice President of the Philadelphia Phillies; Scott Orens, class of 1972, Guy Orens, class of 1974, and Jonathan Orens, class of 1978, who are Regional Real Estate Developers and Property Managers; and Alex Furmansky, class of 2003, Entrepreneurial Business Leader and CEO. In the category of Education, the honorees were Robert Field, class of 1958, Upper Dublin Teacher, Coach, Principal, and Advocate for Excellence in Upper Dublin Schools; Rudi Klobach, class of 1962, Dedicated Educator and Celebrated Soccer Coach; and Richard Mitchell Brown, class of 1964, Commander, US Navy retired, Professor of National Security and Naval Strategist, Naval Aviator and Combat Seawolf Pilot. The honorees in the category of Government and Military were George Sterner, class of 1958, Vice Admiral US Navy, retired, Submarine Commander, Materiel Professional and Commander, Naval Sea Systems Command; Steven Hogg, class of 1973, Colonel USMC, retired, Commanding Officer, Recruit Training Regiment Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, SC; Brian Solo, class of 1982, Commander, US Navy, retired, Commanding Officer, USS Cole and Pentagon Staff; Major Robert Beale, class of 1998, US Army Special Operations Aviation Officer; and Major William Hackenbracht, class of 1998, US Army Special Operations Civil Affairs Officer. Honorees in the category of Medicine, Science and Technology were Christopher Clark, MD, class of 1964, Neurologist and Groundbreaking Researcher for Alzheimer's Disease Detection and Therapies; Paul Mansfield, MD, class of 1975, Professor of Surgery and Vice President, MD Anderson Cancer Center and Internationally Recognized Pioneering Surgical Oncologist; and Debra Somers Copit, MD, class of 1981, Diagnostic Radiologist, Breast Imaging Specialist and Associate Professor of Radiology. The final category was Philanthropy and Community Service where the following alumni honored included H. William Gift, class of 1963, Upper Dublin Elected and Appointed Official, Emergency Services First Responder and Community Volunteer; Lawrence Smith and Christine Jenkins Smith, class of 1965, Supporters of Causes for Children and Families, Disaster Relief and Natural Resources Preservation; and Richard DeMaria, class of 1971, Physical Therapist and Cancer Recovery Advocate.
The Upper Dublin Alumni Hall of Fame was announced in March of 2016 and nominations were sought followed by the selection process and announcement of the honorees in December 2016. The Alumni Hall of Fame is a joint effort of the Upper Dublin Education Foundation and the School District of Upper Dublin.
